Call for Nominations: Ludwig Quidde-Award

The Ludwig Quidde-Foundation in the administration of the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF) calls for nominations for the

Ludwig Quidde-Award

which is announced for the first time. The award is endowed with 5,000 Euro. It commemorates the lifework of the German Nobel Peace Prize Laureate of 1927 who on the occasion of the award ceremony in Oslo expressed his deep conviction “that it is a moral duty to do away with war and to secure peace.”
The award honors achievements in peace research, i.e. a scientific life’s work, or a pioneering research program or approach. It is closely connected to the life and legacy of Ludwig Quidde which is why nominations can be submitted for achievements in the following topics: Life and legacy of Ludwig Quidde, international organization of peace, international law, historical peace research, peace movement and pacifism, mediation and peaceful conflict resolution.
National and international nominations can be submitted in German or English. Self-nominations are not permitted.
A scientific jury with scholars from different disciplines decides on the awarding of the Ludwig Quidde-Award. There is no right of appeal.
The award ceremony will be held in spring 2012 in Osnabrueck (Germany). The laureate will be announced on the website of the Ludwig Quidde-Foundation.
